The History of Our Parish

The history of a parish is the story of its people - so we'd like to ask for any archive material you may have of the two churches in our parish. Please contact Fr John with any contributions you have that you would be happy to publish on these pages!

St Mary's & St Joseph's Parish

img_3204

On the 1st of September 2025 Archbishop William Nolan established the new parish of St Mary's & St Joseph's, to serve the Catholic community of Duntocher and Faifley, part of the Clydebank Pastoral Area.

The new parish replaces two parishes - St Mary's, Duntocher, first established as an independent Catholic mission in 1841 and St Joseph's, Faifley, opened in 1957.

Collected below are a selection of documents, photographs and video from the two parishes and in the years to come we hope to have just as varied and vibrant a record of the life of our new parish!

St Mary's Duntocher

At present we have a selection of archive video footage from St Mary's, and a scanned copy of the booklet that was published in 1954 to accompany the Solemn Opening of our new church, opened by Archbishop Donald Campbell on 14th November 1954.

Click here to be taken to the video page on YouTube.

And click here to open a PDF copy of the booklet.

St Joseph's Faifley

For St Joseph's we have a copy  of the booklet that was published to accompany our Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2007, with an introduction from Archbishop Mario Conti and a wonderful walk through the life of our vibrant parish over 50 years.
